About us
Freemasonry is one of the world’s oldest and largest fraternal organizations, rooted in moral teachings, brotherhood, and personal development. In Dallas, Freemasonry has played a significant role in shaping the city’s civic and cultural landscape. Prominent Dallas Masons such as R.L. Thornton—former mayor and namesake of I-30’s R.L. Thornton Freeway—exemplify the Masonic commitment to leadership and public service. The lasting influence of Dallas Masons is also seen in local schools named in their honor, including Tom C. Gooch Elementary and Nathan Adams Elementary.
Dallas Masons are deeply involved in charitable work, supporting education, community health, and family services. Through partnerships with organizations like the Scottish Rite Hospital for Children and various scholarship funds, Freemasons provide tangible support for families across North Texas. Local Masonic lodges also organize meal drives, teacher recognitions, and awards that honor community builders and first responders.
More than just a fraternity, Freemasonry in Dallas continues to uphold values of integrity, compassion, and service—quietly yet impactfully improving lives in the community.
